High Bridge Park: built in 1877, High Bridge was the highest railroad trestle in the world and considered an engineering marvel of its time; still in heavy use today.
Camp Nelson Civil War Heritage Park & National Cemetery – the nation’s third largest recruiting and training camp and hospital facilities for African-America soldiers during the Civil War; also a refugee camp where wives and children of the soldiers were educated and cared for.
